Time To Start Cooking From Your Home Store
Day 7: Cook Meal One In The Pantry Challenge
You’ve been very busy over the past week. From cleaning and doing inventory of your cupboards to preparing a 7 day menu. Congratulations!
For many of you this past week will have been the hardest part of this entire challenge. Especially cleaning those cupboards.
For those who don’t know what we’ve been doing, go back to this article—A Pantry Challenge for Beginners. As this is a challenge to help EMPOWER you towards a HOPE and a FUTURE, you can join us at any time. We’d love to have you join us! Although laid out over a 2 week period, it is also self-paced. After all, we all have real life to fit in with this challenge. Rather than bombard you with too much at a time, this challenge is broken down into small bites.
How Is It Going For You?
For those of you already doing this Pantry Challenge for Beginners, how is it going? How do you feel now? Better? I do, because I now know exactly what is in my cupboards. Even though financially, money has been severely tight for Barry and I recently, I know we won’t starve. Did you discover the same?
The added bonus is doing the bite-sized Spring Cleaning jobs as you go. Nothing seems to lift a mood of depression faster than when you can see things cleaner, and shinier. Not only are the spiders and the such being given their eviction notices. So are the depressing moods being kicked out. And by doing this as a self-paced, bite-sized projects, each small step is a huge success.
So, join the conversation and let me know how it is going. Encouraging each other will also make this Pantry Challenge easier to do too.
So What’s For Dinner Tonight?
Well, for Barry and I, we are going to be having Crock Pot Canned Salmon Loaf. I decided to do an easy to prepare meal that is mostly passive time for baking. I like simple.
You worked hard on your 7 day Pantry Menu yesterday. So what have you come up with for your dinner tonight? Because you have worked hard scrubbing and cleaning cupboards all week, did you choose something simpler too?
Tell me about it. I’d love to know what you’ve come up with.
But Don’t Forget To Keep Cleaning
YUCK! Yes, don’t forget to keep cleaning your cupboards in your kitchen over this coming week. Meal preparation is just basically a normal time and activity in your day. So what to do with your other time? Well, you’ve been doing such a great job at cleaning, why not keep going?
But you don’t have to clean all the remaining cupboards at once. For instance, why not just clean your cup and glass cupboard today.
Remember, this Pantry Challenge is set up to EMPOWER you towards a HOPE and a FUTURE. So, you can do things in bite-sized pieces, even with cleaning the rest of the cupboards. It also gives you an opportunity to see if there are any chipped glasses and cups that need to be thrown out. You can de-clutter any items you never use too. Donate them to a worthy group in your community. Perhaps a women’s shelter, men’s shelter, or just the local thrift store.
Helping others also helps you too. Not just by de-cluttering and cleaning out your cupboards, but also the good feeling you get from helping someone else.
Rejoice In Your Accomplishments And Get Cooking
So, have fun cooking down your cupboard this week, and keep cleaning the others. At the end of this Challenge you will not only have learned about your shopping and pantry habits, you will have a clean kitchen too. See you tomorrow! On to the Plate Cupboard.
Don’t forget to stop by the Facebook group too.
