The Best Guide To Muskoka Resources
This is the best guide to community assistance resources in the Muskoka and Parry Sound region. It first became available in September 2016. Have you grabbed your FREE copy yet? Even if you are not from this region, you should download a copy to help you narrow down your own search for similar resources that are in your own community.
A need for such a resource was identified in the summer of 2016 by Free Stuff 4 Daily Needs. Within a few months, data was collected, typed, and compiled into an easy to download PDF format. Yes, the government has provided a phone and internet service of 211 Community Information. This is also an excellent resource, and even though Free Stuff 4 Daily Needs is also included in their listings, it can be confusing at times to navigate the information.
Call me “old school”, but sometimes I need to see the information in a more traditional book type format. This is what our resource to you is—a 136 page book style format of community assistance information.
Taking the most basic questions for additional services that our clients typically ask for, we tried to locate all of the available resources. More are added as they are discovered.
So whether you are looking for information on:
- shelters – mens, womens, or even teens
- Children’s Aid
- addiction help
- mental health issues assistance
- pregnancy crisis center
- Christmas hamper
- Back To School assistance
- food banks

- parenting classes
- counselling services
- and sooo much more
you should download a FREE copy of this resource for your own reference.
Why This Resource Was Compiled
There was a lack of a single source resource to locate many of the services needed almost daily by many of our clients. Our clients would ask for redirection for additional services which we do not provide. In an effort to help them find those resources, we were continually making a list of these other organizations to contact.
Finally, we just compiled this resource and have made it available to these other organizations to use as well.
We have received much positive feedback from many of the groups listed throughout this 136 page book about how it has helped them too.
It is helping us, as community service organizations, to better network together. By doing so, it makes us better aware of the other great services and resources already being provided by other groups within our own region.
It is important to know this so we, as a collective whole, can better manage our money and resources. After all, if another organization is already established and a trusted source for a certain service or assistance, there is no need for duplication. This is liberating for other groups to use available funds to look for gaps in current services and fill those instead. All the while, being able to direct clients to the services already available.
To better understand why organizations should be networking instead of duplicating, read this article: Are You Turkeyed Out?
Helping You To Get Ahead
For some limited organizations with specific classes and programs, we have been able to supply free paper versions as well. For programs such as the Getting Ahead, offered by our local YWCA, it has been especially useful. We have also been able to provide them with FREE paperback copies of the Free Stuff 4 Daily Needs Cookbook for their participants as well.
When finances at Free Stuff 4 Daily Needs permit, we hand out additional copies to other groups and programs whenever possible. But we can only do so much on the $15,000 we raise every year to run our entire range of services.
As a result, in order to make this 136 page resource available to as many people as possible, it is available for FREE download here at Free Stuff 4 Daily Needs.
