It Is Thyme For Beef Stew
Crock Pot cooking is one of my favorite meal preparation methods. Put the ingredients in the pot, turn it on, and get on with your day. And this one is just as simple to prepare. The cold winter months are a perfect opportunity to use this great kitchen appliance. Whether you call it your crock pot or slow cooker, it should be one of the busiest kitchen tools you own.
Not only does it save you time, it saves on electrical energy too. And if you have high electrical bills, then you need to find ways to cut down the power. The beauty of slow cookers, is although plugged in for hours, they virtually use the energy of a small lightbulb. Whereas, using your stove top and a large pot to cook a similar pot of stew for hours uses a lot more energy. And it takes up your time as you need to stay and tend to the pot. Stove top stews require much more stirring and heat adjusting to prevent sticking and burning.
But the slow cooker, allows you to put the ingredients, stir, cover, and leave it until serving time.
A Few Ingredients
With a few simple ingredients, you are well on your way to having a hearty meal for the entire family. For instance, to make this particular stew for 4, it only required 1 potato, 2 carrots, half an onion, 2 celery stalks. Without a lot of vegetables on hand you can still get them on your table. And that results in getting more vegetables in the tummies of your children.
Stews are great for the winter months, because commonly both the carrots and onions are cheaper. So not only are you saving on the initial cost, but only needing a few in a pot of stew means you can make more meals.
Putting more meals in your home for less money is always a great goal. Here at Free Stuff 4 Daily Needs we are always looking for ways to EMPOWER you towards a HOPE and a FUTURE.
