Crock Pot Wild Rice Turkey Vegetable Soup
Winter days are cold and nothing warms and soothes better than a good bowl of soup. Here is one that not only uses up left over turkey, but is simple too!
This week is a perfect week around here for making soup. It is currently -27 degrees Fahrenheit outside. That means the furnace seems to be cutting on about 5 minutes after it has shut off from the last heating cycle. It is frost biting cold outside.
So, while you stay inside trying to keep warm, set the crock pot up and enjoy a hearty bowl of soup at lunch.
A Bowl Of Empowerment
Don’t you just love easy to prepare recipes? Well, this is another one you can add to your list. It is simple to throw together using some turkey meat left over from the big feast. In addition, I added a few other items that had come in a recent Food Bank hamper donation.
Yes, this past year in particular has been financially very difficult for Barry and I. A few months ago he almost died from a stress related seizure when he stopped breathing for several minutes.
The reason for the seizure? Financial stress.
So, this holiday season, for the first time ever, some friends, knowing we were too proud, went to the local Food Bank on our behalf. They knew that the only way we would accept the food hamper was if they picked it up and delivered it to us. Although against the typical procedures of the local Food Bank, they, also knowing what humanitarian aid we offer, agreed with our friends. The Food Bank was more than willing to assist us.
Now I know many of you, our readers, share this stress in your own homes. So I know we can all relate to each other.
Do you also struggle with the pride of having to “ask” for help? I know that Barry and I struggle with it.
This is another reason why this website, Free Stuff 4 Daily Needs was put into place—to help you too!
To EMPOWER you towards a HOPE and a FUTURE. This is a place to help you without damaging your pride. At the same time, equipping you with the tools and resources, or even recipes to help empower you in your struggle for independence.
So, here is a bowl of “empowerment”.
Only 4 Ingredients
This recipe is one small way to help you achieve empowerment. It requires just 4 simple ingredients—one of which is water.
By using the crock pot, or slow cooker if you prefer, it allows the dehydrated vegetables in the soup mix to properly rehydrate. Nothing worse than a chewy carrot that is more rubber than vegetable don’t you think?
So, quickly, mix the following in your crock pot, and then set it on high for 4 hours. Freeing up your morning for other activities. After which, you will be greeted with a hot, hearty bowl of Crock Pot Wild Rice Turkey Vegetable Soup.
- Left over turkey
- wild rice
- package of Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix
Easy peasy, simple and inexpensive too!
