One Simple Way To Start Reducing Stress
Stress is often a silent culprit that plays a big role in causing a number of health problems to millions of people around the world. Perhaps even you.
- heart disease,
- gastrointestinal issues
- and so many other health problems
have all been linked to stress. Do you struggle with any of these types of health issues?
Here’s what’s so amazing about it – you can fix or control many of these issues just by changing this one thing.
However, the truth of the matter is that this is easier said than done for many. Today, you can learn to attack the stress in your life with discipline and a few simple actions. Even implementing one of these strategies can start to show real improvement in your overall health.
Examine Your Eating Habits
Get this one wrong and it’s almost certain that you’ll end up with health issues eventually. After all you’ve heard the expression– “You are what you eat”. Although not immediately, over time, your eating behavior and habits will directly affect your health. But you can control much of that health in a positive manner just by paying attention to what you eat.
Ask yourself this simple question–
“Why am I eating what I am eating?”
Be honest with yourself. The answer may surprise you when you consciously think about the “why”. However this will be when you are empowered to change. And here at Free Stuff 4 Daily Needs we are always looking for ways to EMPOWER you towards a HOPE and a FUTURE.
Why Are You Eating That?
Eating is a normal bodily function that requires you to regularly fuel up your mind, muscles, and more. Everything you eat has a direct impact on how your brain thinks and body functions. From your thoughts, emotions, to being able to move and lift things, you need proper fuels for your body to work properly.
When you are under other stresses in your life, it is easy to “emotionally” eat. I struggle with this issue myself. Instead of focusing on food that fuels the body, the overwhelming reason becomes, it tastes good. But that is not enough reason to give about why you eat something.
You have to be wiser than that. Discipline will ensure that you eat for fuel and not only focus on pleasure. Sure you can treat yourself to a guilty pleasure every now and then, but for the most part, you should be focusing on foods that properly fuel your body. So the next time you have a meal or snack, stop and ask yourself,
- How will this help my mind and body?
- Why am I eating this?
- Am I actually hungry, or just emotionally eating?
Many of us struggle in this area however, so you are not alone. And with a new year beginning and many of us making the “I want to lose weight” resolution, now is the time to learn ways to achieve this. While doing so, you will also reduce some stress in your life.
Realizing that bad eating habits didn’t happen overnight, you can start implementing small improvements today, gradually changing to better overall eating habits. Within days you will start noticing positive benefits. Those positive benefits alone will help reduce your stress levels.
An Eating Accountability Buddy
Many of us, myself included, struggling with emotional eating. One way to help you overcome this and eat with more “fueling” purpose is to get an accountability buddy. Within your circle of friends, it is pretty certain that someone else is having the same struggle. It has been proven time and again that stress levels can be reduced when you realize you are not alone. Just knowing that lifts the weight of stress off of many people.
By having a friend that you can take this better eating path with, you can support and encourage each other. A cheering section that will help you to put down that cookie and grab an apple instead.
You and your friend can exchange recipes and more. Plan out meals together for a week at a time. Based on your available income and time restrictions, two minds are better than one. Together, set up meal ideas for yourself, and then help your friend with her’s.
Assuming you eat 4 meals a day, that will be 28 meals a week. Even if you ate right for 20 of those meals, it would be excellent. That’s roughly a 71 percent compliance rate and your health would reap a ton of benefits. Some of those benefits you will start to notice within days.
Plan Your Meals
The main problem here is that the majority of people make poor food decisions for 100 percent of their meals. All they focus on is how the food will make them feel.
Plan out your meals 1 week ahead so that you do not have to think about it daily. Even plan some treats too. After all, to totally deprive yourself of things you like will only set you up to fail. Remember, we want to give you tools to EMPOWER you towards a HOPE and a FUTURE.
You could either have 1 cheat day in the week where you eat what you feel like or you could have 1 little cheat meal daily. It doesn’t matter. As long as you are focused on the majority of the meals, you’ll be good to go.
Once you create a food plan that you can follow, stick to it. No matter what your mind tells you, you should NOT deviate. It’s inevitable to face resistance because you’re breaking old habits and forging new ones.
It doesn’t matter whether you are choosing a plan such as:
- Keto Diet
- Weight Watchers
- or any of the others.
The important thing is to start thinking more consciously about what you are eating and why.
Discipline will keep you focused on the plan at hand.
